Extensive Day in Villa Clara for May 1st

The celebrations for May Day start for the village of La Campana and extended by thirty settlements, days of beautification and sanitation will be made to face epidemiological situation in the province.

Heroes of work paid homage for Che Guevara

22 Heroes of Labour of the Republic of Cuba (from agriculture) visited Ernesto Guevara Sculptural Complex (Complejo Escultórico Ernesto Guevara) in Santa Clara, where they celebrated the Heroic Guerrilla.

Petronila Neyra, who has been a Hero of Labour for more than a decade, working as a harvester of coffee in the province of Guantánamo, said that visiting the place where the remains of Che and his comrades lay, are proud to Cubans. She also emphasized that volunteer work is essential to obtain the status [of the Hero of Labour] and that this is one of the main principles of Che Guevara's ideology.
Berta Hernandez, who classifies tobacco leaves in the province of Pinar del Rio, promised to double her daily work and to take part in the development of the nation.
Ezequiel Cantillo, who received the award 17 years ago, is still working over 10 hours a day in the coffee company of Yateras in Guantánamo.

Miguel Contreras, a member of the National Secretariat of Agroforestry Union, said that the programme in Villa Clara includes a tour of the National Research Institute (INIVIT - Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones de Viandas Tropicales) to exchange experiences with other, especially younger workers.

Haydee Tamara Bunker Bíder, német apa és lengyel anya gyermekeként született 1937. november 19-én Buenos Aires-ben, Argentínában. The museum of Che Guevara Memorial in Santa Clara received some precious new material: the personal objects of "Tania" Tamara Bunke, the female guerrilla and spy, who was working with Che during the Bolivian campaign, - a uniform, a notebook, an exercise book, a bronze plaquette, photos, letters and documents - were donated by Nadia Bider, Tania's mother. As soon as the objects are brought into the appropriate condition, they will be exhibited for the public.

Haydee Tamara Bunker Bíder, the daughter of a German father and a Polish mother, was born on 19th November 1937 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was twelve years old, when her family moved to Germany. In 1960 she met Che Guevara and three years later she started to train for the Bolivian guerrilla campaign, led by Che. She was killed on 31st August 1967 in Bolivia.
Her remains were identified and carried to Cuba in 1998, then they found their resting place next to Che and his fallen compañeros in Che Guevara Mausoleum, in Santa Clara, about 300 kilometres east from Havana.

Truong Hoa Binh, a vietnámi szocialista köztársaság legfelsőbb bíróságának elnöke tiszteletét fejezte ki Comandante Che Guevara előtt a Santa Clara városában található emlékhelyen, ahol a hős gerilla és harcostársainak maradványai nyugszanak.

On 23rd January in Santa Clara more than 200 members of the Latin-American Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba paid tribute to Comandante Che Guevara at the memorial complex, built for his memory. The volunteers are mainly young people, teachers, medical professionals, social workers and students, and they come from Argentina, Chile, Brasil and Uruguay.
After looking at the exhibition of photos and personal objects of Che Guevara in the museum, and the memorial site where the legendary commander and his fallen comrades were buried, they visited  the Tren Blindado - the derailed armour train that was stopped and derailed by Che - his other important victory besides the Battle of Santa Clara.
The brigade is going to visit other Cuban cities as well, in order to get to know the Cuban life, economy and culture more.

An exhibition commemorating the 25th anniversary of the inauguration of the Ernesto Che Guevara Complex (December 2013)

By the help of rare, panoramic photos, the exhibition shows how the Ernesto Che Guevara Complex [here you can read about it and check out some photos] was being created, by its architects, artists and those hundreds of voluntary workers who made it. These people could even meet again, after so many years, and now they exchanged their memories and remembered the huge silence when Che's gigantic statue was being erected - and the moment when it took its place safely and suddenly everyone was cheering loudly and clapping their hands.
Some people even donated special objects like a wooden effigy of Che (that you can see above).

The exhibition is open till the end of January.
