1928. 14th June - The birth of Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, in Rosario, Argentina
1929 The Guevara family moves to Misiones where Ernesto's father, Ernesto Guevara Lynch creates a plantation of yerba mate tea
1929 The birth of Ernesto's sister, Celia
1932 The Guevara family moves to Córdoba because of Ernesto's asthma
1932 The birth of Ernesto's brother, Roberto
1933. The Guevara family moves to Alta Gracia and stays there till 1944 (their house is the Che Guevara Museum today)
1934 The birth of Ernesto's sister, Ana María
1940 Ernesto takes part in chess tournaments
1941 Ernesto finished his primary school studies at Escuela Pública San Martín
1942 Ernesto starts his grammar school studies at Colegio Nacional Deán Funes
1943 The Guevara family moves to the city of Córdoba
1943 The birth of Ernesto's brother, Juan Martin
1946 The Guevara family moves to Buenos Aires
1947 Ernesto passes his school leaving examinations, then starts his studies at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Buenos Aires. He studies there from 1947 to 1953. He makes friends with Tita Infante
1947 Ernesto became eligible for National Military Service - but he was exempted as physically unfit because of his asthma attack.
1950. 1st January - Ernesto takes a bicycle tour of 4,700 kilometres in Northern Argentina
1950 October - Ernesto meets the first love of his life, Chichita (Carmen Ferreyra) on a wedding
1951 Ernesto works as a male nurse on the ship Anna C and takes part in four journeys
1951. 29th December - Ernesto and his friend, Alberto Granado takes a motorcycle tour in South America - Chichita dumps him in a letter
1952. July - Ernesto leaves for home, but the plane spends a month in Miami (USA) because of a technical problem
1952. November - December - Ernesto passes his examinations
1953. 11th April - Ernesto receives his degree as a doctor
1953. 7th July - Ernesto and his friend, Carlos 'Calica' Ferrer takes a journey in South America
1953. December - Ernesto - for the first time- meets some Cuban exiles in Costa Rica (the survivors of the unsuccessful attack on the Moncada Garrison on 26th July 1953)
1953. 24th December - Ernesto arrives at Guatemala - here he meets and makes friends with the Peruvian revolutionary and economist, Hilda Gadea
1954. 4th January - Ernesto meets and makes friends with Ñico López, his first Cuban friend who attended the attack of the Moncada Garrison
1954. June - Ernesto watches when American forces, supported by the CIA attack Guatemala, then he flies to the Argentinian embassy
1954. 21st September - Ernesto arrives at Mexico City
1955. 12th - 16th March - Ernesto works as a correspondent and photographer at the Pan-American Games in Mexico City
1955. One of Ernesto's papers on allergy is praised
1955. June - Ernesto meets Raúl Castro
1955. July - Ernesto meets Fidel Castro, then joins his Cuban expedition as its doctor. He is given the name 'Che'
1955. 18th August - Che marries Hilda Gadea
1955. November - Che and Hilda go on honeymoon in Mexico
1956. 15th February - The birth of Che's first child, Hilda Beatriz (Hildita)
1956. 24th June - Che, Fidel Castro and other members of the Cuban expediciton are arrested and taken into jail
1956. 14th August - Che is set free from jail
1956. 25th November - The Cuban expedition leaves Tuxpán for Cuba on the yacht Granma
1956. 2nd December - The Granma arrives at Cuba at Las Colorados
1956. 5th December - The battle of Alegría del Pió - Che is wounded and torn from Fidel Castro's group
1956. 21st December - Che finds and rejoins Fidel's group and it turns out that only 20 fighters survived of the 82
1957. 17th January - The battle of La Plata
1957. 28th May - The battle of El Uvero
1957. July - Che is made captain
1957. 21st July - Che is made Comandante and he becomes the leader of the 4th column (actually only the second - it is called the fourth to dupe the enemy)
1957. 31st July - The battle of Bueyecito
1957. August - Che creates a camp at El Hombrito
1957. October - Che launches the newspaper El Cubano Libre
1957. 29th November - The battle of Mar Verde. The army destroys the camp at El Hombrito, so Che moves it to La Pata de la Mesa
1957. 8th December - Che is wounded on his left foot by a bullet, he cannot walk for a week
1958. February - Che launches Radio Rebelde
1958. 16th February - The battle of Pino del Agua. Then Che gives two interviews and the legend of Che Guevara is born
1958. April - Che founds a school for guerrillas
1958. May - Che becomes the leader of the 8th column
1958. May - August - Big Summer Offensive
1958. 31st August - Che and his column leaves for Las Villas
1958. 16th October - Che and his column arrives at the Mountains Escambray
1958. December - Che meets Aleida March, the revolutionary from Santa Clara
1958. 18th December - the capture of Fomento, then that of other towns in Las Villas
1958. 29 - 31 December - The battle of Santa Clara
1959. 1st January - Che and his column leaves for Havana
1959. 2nd January - Che arrives at Havana and captures the fortress of La Cabaña
1959. 8th January - Fidel Castro arrives at Havana
1959. 2nd June - Che marries Aleida March
1959. 12th June - Che leaves for a tour in Europe, Africa and Asia
1959. 8th September - Che arrives back at Cuba
1959. 7th October - Che becomes the leader of the Industrial Department of the National Agrarian Reform Institute
1959. 26th November - Che becomes the president of the Cuban National Bank
1960. 4th March - Sabotage: the explosion of the French ship La Coubre in the haven of Havana
1960. 5th March - the funeral ceremony - here the most famous photo of Che is taken, the Guerrillero Heroico (the heroic guerrilla)
1960. 29th June - The revolutionary government nationalises the American oil refineries, then two months later some huge American companies
1960. 6th August - The USA launches a partial commercial embargo against Cuba
1960. 21st October - Che takes a two-month-long tour in Europe and Asia
1960. 24th November - The birth of Che's second (the first with Aleida) child, Aleida (Aleidita, Aliusha)
1961. 3rd January - The USA breaks the diplomatic relations with Cuba
1961. 23rd February - Che becomes the leader of the Ministry of Industry
1961. 17th April - the three-day-long battle at the Bay of Pigs - at Playa de Girón
1961. 8th August - Che makes speeches as the leader of the Cuban delegacy at the conference at Punta del Este (Uruguay)
1962. 3rd February - The USA launches a full commercial embargo against Cuba
1962. 20th May - The birth of Che's first son, Camilo
1962. 27th August - Che visits the Soviet Union
1962. 22nd - 28th October - the Cuban Rocket Crisis
1963. 14th June - The birth of Che's daughter, Celia
1963. 3rd July - Che visits Algeria
1964. 4th November - Che visits the Soviet Union
1964. 9th December - Che takes a three-month-long tour, then makes a speech at the UN, then visits African countries
1965. 24th February - The birth of Che's last child, Ernesto (Ernestito)
1965. 14th March - Che returns to Cuba
1965. 1st April - Che writes a farewell letter to Fidel Castro, then leaves for the Congo
1965. 3rd October - Fidel Castro reads Che's farewell letter in public
1965. Che's beloved mother, Celia de la Serna dies
1965. December - The Congo campaign fails, and Che returns to Cuba in secret, then he starts preparing for the Bolivian campaign
1966. 4th November - Che arrives at Bolivia under disguise with a fake passport
1967. 23rd March - The first successful attack of the guerrillas at the Bolivian army
1967. 6th April - Che's article "Create two, three, many Vietnams" is published
1967. 4th August - A traitor leads the Bolivian army to the secret arms depot of the guerrillas
1967. 26th September - The Bolivian army encircles the guerrillas
1967. 8th October - The surviving 17 guerrillas are trapped, Che is wounded and captured. Five guerrillas escape and arrive at Chile, the others are killed.
1967. 9th October - Che is executed at 1 p.m. by the command of the Bolivian government
1968. 1st July - In Cuba Che's Bolivian Diary is published and distributed free - with the preface written by Fidel Castro
1974. Hilda Gadea, Che's first wife dies
1995. Hildita, Che's oldest child dies
1995. 1st December - In Bolivia an extended search starts to find the remains of Che and his guerrillas
1997. 28th June - 1st July - The remains of seven guerrillas - Che's as well - are found in Vallegrande
1997. 14th July - The remains arrive at Cuba
1997. 13th October - Obit in Havana at the Plaza de la Revolución
1997. 14th October - Che's remains arrives at Santa Clara
